The Test Report : Nokia 5510 |
Digital Music
Player Not real support MP3 files and slow transfer speed. Transfering music files from PC to Nokia 5510 is more time consuming than that of other MP3 player. It is the fault of the PC software. All music files should be transfered to Nokia 5510 through Nokia Audio Manager PC software 2.0. The software will change MP3 format to AAC format (with .lse) first, then transfer to 5510. The test showed that it took from 50 seconds to 1 min to transfer a 4 mintues song. Comparing with other MP3 portable player like Samsung's (4 mintues song for around 10 - 20 sec). It is much more slower. It is mainly because of not real support MP3 format. No MP3 encode! The Nokia Audio Manager can transfer the songs from CD to digital music. However, the format is not MP3. It is AAC or .ISE format. The format is only for your Nokia 5510 only, and not able to transfer to others. Average in sound quality The Nokia 5510 has different EQs to choose, from Jazz, Pop, Latin, bass to txtra bass. However, there is not much different between those EQs. The bass is not strong enough. One possible reason is the headset by Nokia. it is only a cheap one, producing poor sound quality. Besides, the headset is all-in-one type (with handsfree function). If you want to change with a high quality headset, you will lose the handsfree function. FM Stereo? From the specification, it states Nokia 5510 equips with FM radio in stereo. However, I feel no stereo from that sample (it is a stock for sales, not a enigeering sample!) We don't know why, but it is the fact. Digital recorder for Radio only? From the specificaton also, it states Nokia 5510 can act as a digital recorder. Bear in mind, it is not a digital recorder for voice, but for CD to 5510, or MD to 5510. Unfortunely, the cables on the package are not in right format to connect to any CD , MD player. You can process digital recording also, but from FM Radio only. Good in control There are two short cut key behind the handset for FM radio and MP3 player. Only one touch can iniatiate the function. However, if you want to shut down, change songs or change radio station, you need to browser the menu and choose. The shorkey on the headset is good design for changing the song, and FM radio station. |

Mobile
Phone Good reception and voice quality Nokia is famous for making mobile phone. The quality of Nokia 5510 is guranteed. Comparing the voice quality and reception with Nokia 3310, it is almost the same. Both sides of caller and recevier can listen to the conversation clearly. And it has good quality for using headset. SMS easy Full size keyboard makes Nokia 5510 bulky. But this bring you the easiest way to input SMS message, providing that you know English typing. It takes three times faster than normal SMS characters input through numeric keyboard, from my test. Together with the SMS chat room function, it is fun using Nokia 5510. Game: boring I think Nokia should put more new things to game. Nokia 5510 is a good phone but with old and poor game. Snake II, Bumper all are good games, but it is good for every Nokia 5510, and cannot make the good use of the keyboard... Boring is my comment. |
